The AWS Class ER316/316L SAW wire is made up of about 18–20% Chromium, 11–14% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and a low Carbon content (maximum 0.03%) to minimize carbide precipitation. Typical mechanical properties include a minimum tensile strength of 560 MPa, a yield strength of at least 350 MPa, and an elongation of 30% or more.
