Stainless Steel 317 is an austenitic alloy that boasts a blend of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, which boosts its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Typically, it features 18–20% chromium, 11–13% nickel, and about 3% molybdenum, along with trace amounts of manganese, silicon, and carbon. On the mechanical side, it showcases impressive tensile strength, usually around 515 MPa, and a yield strength of roughly 205 MPa. The alloy also provides high elongation of 40% or more, ensuring it remains tough and ductile.
